Ranbir Kapoor is set to be 'mascot' at this year's International Indian Film Academy awards in Singapore
The IIFA Awards, traditionally held in a different global city every year, has lately been a one-star show over the past few years, ever since Amitabh Bachchan, the talismanic IIFA brand ambassador of yore, stepped down from the job.
So, if Salman Khan bailed out IIFA 2010 at Colombo and Shah Rukh Khan hogged all the limelight at last year's Toronto edition of the awards, the buzz doing the rounds at this year's Singapore IIFA is that Ranbir Kapoor is all set to take over the Bollywood carnival.
With Salman and SRK having all but backed out, and Aamir having boycotted all awards ceremonies a long time ago, Ranbir, along with dad Rishi Kapoor, looks all set to make Brand Kapoor a saleable phenomenon at the IIFA Awards on Saturday.
'Even as Bollywood completes 100 years, my family has been serving the film industry for the last 80 years,' said Rishi Kapoor, who has already reached the venue.
Shah Rukh, who was the star of the awards held in Toronto last year, has categorically refused to be part of the event this time because he is busy shooting his under-production film co-starring Katrina Kaif and directed by Yash Chopra.
There was a strong buzz that Salman would return to the IIFA fold this time with SRK backing out, but sources claim he is unlikely to attend the awards event.
Ranbir who has never performed or participated at the IIFA Awards over the past 12 years is apparently very enthusiastic.
According to sources, he has been rehearsing songs such as Sadaa haq from Rockstar and Tai tai phish from Chillar Party for the finalé night.

Now Anushka has three Khans in her kitty
What seemed like only the playground of Kareena Kapoor and Katrina Kaif now has a visitor in the form of Anushka Sharma as well. It was these leading ladies at the top who were working with all top Khans film after film. Though Anushka may still be a while away from breaking into the top three Khans, she has at least a couple of her own with whom she would be seen on the big screen soon.
"Yes, she has three Khans in her kitty already. While she is already shooting with Shahrukh Khan and Imran Khan for Yashji's film and 'Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola' respectively, she is also Aamir Khan's girl in Rajkumar Hirani's 'Peekay'", informs a source.
It seems surprising though that despite such career progress, Anushka has stayed away from active media for a while now. Moreover with no new fodder being made available about her on-off relationship with Ranveer Singh, there isn't much being said and written about her personal life either.
"There is no need for that because once in a while such silence is okay", the source continues, "She is also doing another Yash Raj film with Shahid Kapoor. With so much on her plate, her films will speak for themselves."

Katrina Kaif tries watersports for Ek Tha Tiger
When we heard that Katrina Kaif has taken to the beaches of Phuket like a fish takes to water, we immediately pictured her in an Ursula Andress avatar from the iconic ’60s Bond film, Dr No. But the actor’s motive behind hitting the beach has been to try out the watersports on offer, and get in
shape for action thriller, Dhoom 3.
With three big films lined up one after the other (Ek Tha Tiger opposite Salman Khan, Dhoom 3 opposite Aamir Khan, and a Yash Raj project with Shah Rukh Khan), Katrina is, perhaps, at her busiest. So, she’s making the most of her time in Thailand, where she is currently shooting for Ek Tha Tiger.
An insider tells us that Kat, who learnt to scuba dive to play a diving instructor in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara (2011), has been brushing up on her skills in Phuket. She is also trying her hand at other activities the beach town has to offer. The source says, “At this time of the year, there are great adventure sport options such as sea kayaking and snorkelling in Phuket. Katrina enjoys them all, so she goes off to the beach by herself after pack-up.”
The insider adds, “Watersports help her relax, and serve as a workout.” The actor will soon leave for a 40-day shoot schedule in London for the Yash Raj film. Then, she will begin Dhoom 3, for which she will need to be at her fittest. So, a little bit of watersports seems to be just what the doctor ordered. The actor herself was unavailable for comment.
Rahman to compose for Dhanush's B-town debut 'Raanjhana'
The going definitely can't get better for 'Kolaveri...' boy Dhanush. The latest buzz is that ace music composer Academy Award winner AR Rahman will be composing the tunes for his Bollywood debut 'Raanjhana'.
The film by Aanand L Rai sees Dhanush and Sonam Kapoor in the lead roles. It's a neat love story set in Varanasi and few of the scenes have already been canned. Dhanush is trying hard to get his dialect right in the movie.
Recently, Aanand gifted to Dhanush some of Raj Kapoor's films' DVDs, including 'Mera Naam Joker' to help Dhanush get his act right in the film.
Dhanush is also doing a Tamil film with Bharat Bala of 'Vande Mataram...' fame. Titled 'Mariyaan' that flick will have music by AR Rahman as well!

Sonam asks fans for special birthday gift
Sonam Kapoor will turn 27 Saturday and the actor has asked her fans for a special gift on her birthday this year.
She has collaborated with Ogaan Cancer Foundation to create awareness about breast cancer and is requesting fans to donate for the cause.
"Two days to my birthday guys! Please donate generously," she tweeted.
Sonam recently lost her aunt Mona Kapoor to cancer.
"It is my privilege to be associated with Ogaan Cancer Foundation and play a part in spreading breast cancer awareness. Everyone seems to know someone with breast cancer - I lost an aunt to it. I'm very happy to support the OCF team, which has shown earnestness and a sense of dedicated purpose.
"I hope I can make a difference in my own way. Therefore this year on my birthday I urge friends, family and fans who wish to gift me to do so by donating to this cause," she further posted.

Sonam Kapoor, Dhanush's 'Raanjhana' Filming Delayed by a Month
Filming of Aanand L Rai's Raanjhanaa, featuring Sonam Kapoor and Dhanush, has been delayed by a month to give the South star more time to brush up his Hindi and the Varanasi dialect.
"Dhanush is currently in Namibia shooting action scenes for his next Tamil film. He joins the cast in Mumbai on Thursday and then is here for a month to work on his language and diction. It's not just Hindi, he also has to master the Varanasi dialect," Rai told DNA.
Filming was to begin in June after Sonam's Cannes tour.
Post Cannes, Sonam went to London and Las vegas before returning to Mumbai on Sunday, June 3.
Interestingly, Rai has brought Abhay Deol on board for a cameo. He will play an articulate soft-spoken batch-mate of Sonam at JNU. The film will show the two of them often brainstorming on issues related to politics and life in general - a role in contrast to their last film together Aisha .
Reportedly, getting Abhay into the role of an intellectual was a breeze but Rai struggled to make Sonam, the fashionista, look convincing in a deglam role of a thinking and politically-conscious JNU girl.
Raanjhanaa is a love story set in Varanasi, Delhi and Punjab.
Sonam was last seen in Abbas Mustan's Players (2012) which was a box-office dud. She plays a cameo in Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra's Bhaag Milkha Bhaag which headlines Farhan Akhtar.
Dhanush, Rajnikanth's son-in-law, became an overnight international sensation with his 'Kolaveri Di' song from his recent Tamil film, '3,' a box-office hit. The film features Shruti Haasan as the female lead.
